Lead Pastor

James is the Lead Pastor of The Common. He grew up in Geelong before moving from Melbourne to Perth in 2012 with his wife, Jane, and their three sons.

James studied theology at Ridley College in Melbourne and has spent much of his ministry involved in church planting, training and discipling pastors in Perth and across Australia.

He loves seeing ordinary people discover how the Gospel shapes everyday life and become more intentional about following Jesus in the lives God has already given them.

When he’s not doing church stuff, you’ll probably find James fishing, having a hit of golf, searching for a good coffee or watching the mighty Cats.

Pastor in Training

Jack is a Pastor’s kid who moved around a lot growing up, but calls Geelong his hometown. He re-encountered Jesus in his early 20s and has been pursuing what it means to authentically live out Christ’s call to discipleship and mission in community with others. He is currently studying ministry at Perth Bible College, and works bi-vocationally for The Common and a local renovation company. Jack is married to Heather and they have two sons. Jack loves basketball, and a good story (mostly TV, Movies, and kids books at the moment – he aspires to read more!).

Jack is the Pastor in Training and leads The Common’s Gathering Worship Ministry (Music, Sound & Visuals) and coaches younger leaders.

Heather grew up in Round Rock, Texas and followed Jesus (and Steve Irwin) to Perth to be a part of Youth With A Mission. She discovered a passion for teaching others about the Bible and leading missionary teams overseas. She fell in love with the community of The Common and is now serving as The Common’s Administrator. She’s passionate about discipleship and people growing in their love and knowledge of God’s word.

Heather is married to Jack and they have two sons, Kurt and Robin. She loves all things bread, pastry, noodles, pasta, dumplings, well, you get it. She also likes getting outside in most capacities, and as she is getting into her thirties, she’s enjoying learning more about birds.

Youth Leader

Jackson is the Head Youth Leader at The Common. He comes from a family of four with one younger brother. He is originally from Newcastle, NSW, but has spent most of his upbringing here in Perth.

Jackson has been at The Common for 7 years and has been leading the Youth Group called Farmers for 4 years.

When Jackson is not at Church or Youth Group you will find him watching or playing one of the many sports he enjoys such as cricket, golf and basketball just to name a few.
